National Arboretum: Natural Dyeing with Kitchen Compost

This workshop will showcase natural dyeing using kitchen compost materials such as onion skins, avocados, black beans, pomegranate, and more. You'll learn about the ways to prepare fabric and have the opportunity to see various colors extracted from the different dyestuffs. A brief history of the practice of natural dyeing will be discussed as well as the science behind the process.
